Geneva. Doom. Heliogabalus album. Doom. Oppression. Doom. Stifling. Doom. Care Bears. Doom.


You realize the terror that causes your album?
It begins .... To date some chronic Heliogabalus were published. They reflect what we wanted to do. And you wanted to do what?

The album's most extreme possible. you know the origin of the project? It is part of a problem with our old label (Thundering Records). A big misunderstanding. We wanted to leave but we had signed for two albums. It is said 'ok we'll leave them a shit made in one hour, one will do a riff that will make run for seven minutes, we'll put the KAOSS pad on top. Stay with it and get by you forever. "

We started this thing and call as and we found it far too cool, the more we worked on it, the more it seemed interesting. We managed to find an arrangement with the label, offered a stock of our previous album and so we could break.
And we started to compose seriously this new album. Who already had a basic ultra brutal since it had been hard at trying to be as violent as possible unsaleable. The brutal, monolithic side of this album is a combination of circumstances.

Heliogabalus And what is that?
We wanted to find a figure that would suit our project. We took Heliogabalus who is a 3rd century Roman emperor (203-222), a young Syrian who ascended the throne through the intrigues of court, murder, bloodshed. He is a priest of the sun, a pagan religion that imposes sharply while the Roman Empire began to Christianize. He worships the sacred stone, a huge black stone monolith. Some Historians assume that it would be a meteorite. We thought it was a character who stuck pretty much to the project.
You found it where?
is reading a book by Antonin Artaud, who - drawing on various texts that made the most decadent emperor in the history of Rome; squandering of wealth, sodomites manners, brutality different - in fact a figure metaphysics. But reading about Heliogabalus, we realized that there was in reality a number of facts and interpretations of the character.

Which media do you send your album
For the first time, working with a prod box. (Domino Media) which has been mandated to promote. We hand for delivery, made himself the big promo on the net, we arrange interviews and did some booking also. We'll send 100 press-media targeted to different albums. And, I repeat, we are very happy with the first chronicles.

You play it in concert?
It's been a while now, six months. We made sets forty-five minutes. We realized that there are certain parties who, although of interest on CDs, much less live ...

Ho, so it's a joke that says your ride as you play sixty-six minutes?
Yes, sorry.

To make your lives almost as impressive as on the album, you have hardware fufu?
We have three KAOSS pads, a kaossillator, a keyboard on stage and lots of electronics that are trying to play along with our traditional instruments. All these electronic atmospheres on the album are live.

When are your upcoming gigs planned?
Fifteen dates are scheduled between mid-October and mid-December ... is opened for Wounded Kings and Altar of Plagues in Paris (smug smile) on Oct. 16 and Gnaw (with ex-Khanate in) on October 21 before moving on three other dates with the same Wounded Kings. The official opening of the album will be held Dec. 3 at the Stables in Geneva. And we are trying to organize a tour end with (...) a group really ... (Gestures mimicking doom absolute) at Easter and another in June, the aim being to make the most possible dates.

Your album is really incredibly dense, the limit of the audible sometimes, you hope to sell more than ten?
It has sold more than ten, looks back on yours, it is number 285. And anyway who cares. We did not record something salable. But there's an audience for it. Our previous album,
Myrra, Mordvynn, Marayaa had sold almost a thousand copies, even if, ok, it is softer than the latter.

you saved all at once?
No, two guitars, bass and drums with Stéphane Kroug the Wood Studio (Lausanne), vocals, keyboards and samples JP, one of two guitarists in our room.

And to mix and master, we sent it all in Raphael Bovey (NDR Kruger drummer in his spare time).
Exactly, knowing Raphael likes Opeth, Katatonia, such productions very licked, was not it strange to ask him to do the mastering? It was he who proposed to us, who said he wanted to mix Rorcal. We wanted to have someone with whom one has never worked, so that the approach is as original as possible. Let him do as he wishes with the only directive that it should sound cradingue. It is super happy with it. I can not imagine this album sound different. It's great, we worked with a great guy motivated.

When recording or playing live you click?
No! We know each other, we have made together, you know this album! (...) We have found horrible to lock on a pulse generated by a computer, it is not natural, it's inhumane. Our dynamic is made of mutual understanding, respect, love is sometimes almost spiritual. Stop laughing, it's true. Thanks to that we Clickless.

The object is incredible. Digisleeve completely black with embossed lettering, booklet with red stitching in black envelope cachetonnée an "H" in red wax ...
There are three people who bump on the visual, Bruno (bass), Diogo (guitars) and Ayshe Kizilçai. Bruno took care of the logo and the design of the cover, the layout, the wax seal and is mainly Diogo qu'Ayshe is somewhat inspired by the limited edition Afraid of Impure Wilhelmina. All photos are Ayshe. They incorporate key moments of the existence of Heliogabalus reinterpreted so more contemporary.
With a grant of PTR and economies of the group, we had the chance to work without a label, as we wished. That comes first, the bad experience with our former label and another part of the desire to work on this project between relatives and people you trust. It's the mom Diogo Almeida Esperança, who sewed the red stitching ... but say no, that's attended. (NDR always dream)
I recommend everyone to do that between friends is very nice not only be in a professional report. It Kitsch what I say but we are really pleased with the outcome, to do with people you love, with whom you drink shots, you make a picnic. For the true evil of Rorcal is that we are the Care Bears, we love everybody and that life is beautiful (at least when it is between us)!
