During my very long now roaming service to the people God, I had the opportunity to accompany a number of men or women in search of true happiness. So this week, two women seeking exchange time with a priest about their specific situation.
Two solutions: get a horrified reaction, let them know politely, very quickly, they are in a deadlock, or accept to listen, allow them to express why they are there and what path, what means they give to see more clearly, in their choices and their lives.
I think you would all have been like me: we took a long time-sharing, which I can not reveal content. But there's nothing like listening to people no longer want to condemn them. Warning! This does not mean we accept everything that is no longer any distinction between marriage and homosexual union! But I think as a priest, I had to lay the groundwork for a possible dialogue.
Firstly, I had to avoid situate myself as a judge over these people, and ensure the quality of my hearing and my vision. It was not homosexual before me, like a book where everything is clear: the evil and the good left to right! Beside me, it was not even two women I could have locked up in the category "homosexual" or, worse, that I could consider as public sinners. It was simply two people who came to a human representative of God. To check what? Welcoming, listening, sharing, forgiveness, call to growth, strength of God, prayer, peace, and means to see things more clearly and move forward. Any human relationship
indeed, whether homo or hetero, is called to be a place for growth in humanity. While the questioning and listening in relation to the motivations of their choice, I told them that on the religious level, there was no basis to exclude from the Christian community or to qualify a priori sinners. Neither more nor less than each of us. Do we exclude from the Church who cheats on his wife or one who refuses to share a little of his wealth or his time with people in trouble? Yet this too is not it also very serious? Because even if everything is not put on the same plane, let us not shy too soon face our own failures, because of the beam in our eye!
I do not want to excuse or justify anything, but there is a word of the great moral theologian, the Salesian of Don Bosco Xavier Thevenot, who has always struck when he writes that he met gay Christians whose faith and evangelical quality of life was evident. This comment is to me full of promise and hope. But it is necessary that these people are with her, and within the Church, people who are willing to change their look and to assist them in this particular life choices they have made, for reasons which could also enlighten us about the trial that we can address them.

I have absolutely not the worship of numbers! And I never considered that the presence of God was somewhere mathematically proportional to kilos of Christians present! Indeed, God does not settle down here only where his followers live, it is still beyond! That's why I always jump when I hear for example that in some neighborhoods, a Christian standpoint, there is nothing! Or when we seem to be able to certify that in the Muslim-majority countries, for example, God is less present in our regions to the roots said Christian.
yesterday, someone told me that currently in France, the Christians became increasingly minority. It's funny, but I would rather the opposite impression! Minority of what? Compared to what? When I arrived as a missionary in Mali, for example, in a country where there was not 1% of the baptized, I've never felt minority though! How Malians welcomed me, not only Catholics, but also the overwhelming Muslim majority, has helped me understand that I was in the midst of brothers. I So the side of the majority.
During this mission experience, as now also, I still often think about, or rather, to enjoy this beautiful word of the Lord to the apostle Paul, sent on mission in the vast city of Corinth, and probably a little apprehensive over this "majority" non-Christian. Methinks that we keep in mind the less luxurious trips to Egypt, ancient or recent, of two Frenchmen, from right to left (guess which) and other MMA that the passage of Jesus in this country. In 2 / 14, the evangelist Matthew tells us that in Egypt, Jesus "until the death of Herod," who wanted to destroy him.
