The Blog of Pastor Fontenay-le-Comte No. 1038 : When a town loves his church: the example of Pissotte
Yesterday evening, as expressed with warmth Savineau Michel Mayor Pissotte, "we attended a Mass that will be remembered in the memories of this church." During the Eucharist, in fact, the vicar general of the diocese of Luzon, Bishop Jacques Gomart, after a sermon appreciated by all, blessed a beautiful stained glass window of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and the beautiful high altar, recently restored: the tell Mr. MP Dominic Soucy, "one of the most beautiful altars de Vendee! Hence the valuable support of 50% provided by the Council General to support efforts of the remarkable financial Pissotte municipality, providing the parish itself complement through two bodies: the Heritage Association, whose important role needs no introduction (2,500 euros) and Economic Council (400 euros).
Magnificent ceremony prepared by the talented relay Pissotte Parish and Father Loïc Bellais, enhanced by the quality of the service of his church choir and musicians. In the final, all appreciated the relevance of the activities of the different actors that accompanied the restoration, the financial plan or other Louis-Marie Birch, president of the Association of Friends of the Religious Heritage of the Parish of Saint Hilaire de Fontenay, Michel Savineau Mayor Pissotte, Fourage Hughes, mayor of Fontenay le Comte, president of the Community of Commons, Mary Jo-Chatevaire, general counsel and finally Dominique Soucy, MP, who gave us the honor to participate in this celebration, and Mrs Noella Lucas, Mayor of Orbrie. The limited scope of this blog does not allow me to unfortunately give more echo what has been expressed, or also to thank as they deserve Heritage Association, the Board Parish Economic Affairs and all the parishioners present.
I will just quote some words from the mayor of Pissotte, actor, and his Council, the redevelopment of this church, with courage and constancy, step by step, for years:
"This church is for us, inhabitants of Pissotte, believers or not, a strong sign of recognition. I thank the elected officials of successive municipal councils, who have always viewed the church as a communal building and thereby ensured the duties and burdens of ownership, as it should. For believers, the church is the place of event our joys, our hopes and our troubles. It's also a place of confidence. For all citizens, believers or not, the image of the village center, a landmark for its height, and identification of a population that gathers around a beautiful parochial . The church is part of the heritage is often the oldest monument of a town, a monument bearing a history marked by a singular architecture. All these factors mean that today we are pleased with the work done in this church by municipalities to time. My lord, your presence today Pissotte at the ceremony and you just have to preside over a strong sign of recognition of all this work done. I also thank all the people who invest for the maintenance and life of this church. "
Thank you, Mr. Mayor, the mayors of other municipalities in the parish, who happily engage also in the same direction!
